Meet a former Blushing Bridesmaid: Kelsey Stewart

If you loved the first article on a former BB get ready to learn about another fabulous woman and her time as a blushing bridesmaid. Kelsey Stewart is a junior at Virginia Commonwealth University from Mechanicsville, Virginia. This psychology major has been a bridesmaid in her brother's wedding and is currently in the process of being a bridesmaid in her college suite mate's wedding. Have fun reading about Kelsey's time involved in wedding planning and all the helpful advice she has to offer.

Steph: What was it like being a bridesmaid for your future sister-in-law?
Kelsey: It was definitely an interesting experience. Not only was it weird to see my brother get married, but to see a romantic side of him where he is so in love with his bride. It made me a lot more excited to welcome her to the family.
Steph: As a bridesmaid, did it make you feel closer to the bride?
Kelsey: It did make us a lot closer. I also enjoyed seeing how much her and my brother love each other. They were so romantic throughout the wedding that it made me love them together even more.
Steph: That is so adorable! How would you describe the wedding?
Kelsey: Megan and Scott's wedding was very personal. It incorporated her girly and simplistic style with a casual atmosphere. The wedding took place in Virginia Beach during the summer so this beach themed wedding catered to having a great time.
Steph: How would you describe the overall look that Megan put together for the bridesmaids?
Kelsey: Our look was very casual and relaxed. Since it was an outdoor wedding, Megan wanted us to be comfortable. We all wore long green dresses with flowers in our hair. To go with the casual tone, we even got to wear flip flops.
Steph: What was your favorite part of the day?
Kelsey: Getting ready for the wedding- the bridal party drank wine and relaxed while talking about Megan and Scott's relationship. It was sweet to see Megan and her dad interact before the wedding since that is such a sentimental time for a father on his daughter's wedding day. Overall, the day was special, meaningful and beautiful.
Steph: Now that you have some bridesmaid experience, what is it like preparing to be a bridesmaid in another wedding?
Kelsey: It is interesting to see how different each couple is getting married. Megan and Scott have graduated from college, entered the workforce and have been living together for quite some time. Lizzy and Wes are closer to my age, and do not currently have the same lifestyle as my brother and his wife do. However, it just shows me that love is so powerful that it comes at any time and any age.
Steph: That is definitely true and an interesting perspective to have. What new things are you noticing as a second time bridesmaid?
Kelsey: I am noticing a lot of the little details that go into planning a wedding. To be more specific, a bridesmaid should consider wedding costs, time management, the bride's stress level and always giving her positive encouragement. I am realizing it is my job to be there for her every step of the way and I am finding it easier to do that the second time around.
Steph: Describe the bride you are currently a bridesmaid for
Kelsey: Lizzy is a sweet southern belle from North Carolina. She is one of the most sincere people I know and I can trust her with anything. She is a great person to talk to and very reliable with anything you need. I think she is such a good person that it makes me very happy to help make her wedding day as special as possible.
Steph: What is your favorite part about being a bridesmaid?
Kelsey: I love getting to experience the wedding as bridesmaid even though I obviously am not the bride. It is nice to see how much planning goes into a wedding and being able to be a part of that process. The best part for me is seeing how happy the bride is. Their happiness radiates the entire wedding. It motivates me to make her feel even more special and help her embark on the new journey her and her groom are about to embark on.

Kelsey clearly has a lot of incredible advice to give for all current or future bridesmaids. I hope you enjoyed what she has to say and learned something from her personal experiences. Stay tuned for more articles on former BB's and you never know you could be one soon too :)

Former BB: Kate Baker

Happy Friday wedding gurus :)

I decided to kick off this fabulous weekend with an interview from a former blushing bridesmaid, Kate Baker. Kate is a 21 year-old student from James Madison University studying education. She was recently a bridesmaid in her cousin's wedding this past fall. The wedding was an event to remember not only for this vivacious BB but also for the timeless bride. So soak up Kate’s experience and take in any advice she has to offer for you future bridesmaids.

Steph: How would you describe this fall wedding?

Kate: Liz’s wedding was one of the most extravagant events I have ever seen. It was a formal black tie wedding, where people could only wear black or white. It was funny to see family members in evening gowns and tuxedos, but everyone looked great! The ceremony was at the Melon Auditorium, which is a few blocks away from the White House. It was beautiful and lasted over one hour.

Steph: That sounds like an incredible wedding to be a part of. What is your bride like?
Kate: I would describe Liz as a “glamorous princess”. She loves to put on a show and I would say her wedding was definitely entertaining. She is also very sincere and head over heels in love with her groom. On the morning of the wedding, she placed post it notes saying, “I love you” all over her future husband’s door, it was so sweet. They exchanged gifts to one another every hour, you could truly feel their love for one another.
Steph: That is so cute! What did Liz do to keep you and other bridesmaids involved in the wedding?
Kate: Liz did a great job communicating with the bridal party. She was very interactive with us and made everything fun. I loved hanging out with all the bridesmaids and Liz, especially on the wedding day. We watched the movie Bridesmaids while we were getting ready, it was hilarious.
Steph: That is such a good movie and perfect to watch leading up to the big event. What was your favorite part about the actual wedding day?
Kate: Before the wedding, we all ate fruit and drank champagne while reminiscing on old memories. We talked a lot about the happy couple and how they met, but we also talked about Liz when she was a single lady.
Steph: Did Liz seem stressed on the day of her wedding? If so, what did the bridal party do to comfort her?
Kate: Yes, she definitely was stressed with making sure everything was perfect. She started to cry with her parents before the ceremony, it was a special moment. The bridesmaids were there to make her laugh by playing songs from her favorite pop star, Lady Gaga.
Steph: What would be your final advice for future bridesmaids?
Kate: Definitely keep in touch with your bride during the entire wedding process. There are so many details that go into wedding planning, so be there to help your bride every step of the way. Always stay positive and embrace the experience. Let your bride know how special and loved she is at all times!
I hope you all enjoyed Kate’s story and are even more excited to one day make your bride’s dreams come true as a blushing bridesmaid. Remember that every wedding and bride is different but the bridesmaids are there to make this the happiest day of your beloved bride’s life.
